ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling: The San Diego Owner’s Guide
We stock and install ViewLux-compatible kitchen remodeling components across San Diego, with a full ViewLux kitchen remodel typically running $16,520 to $53,100 depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and layout changes. Most homeowners call us after a door hinge fails, a drawer slide binds, or a cabinet frame starts pulling away from the wall. If you have a ViewLux kitchen and something is failing, we match the part, price it in writing, and handle the install without surprises. Call (619) 604-9624 and we’ll tell you what it costs before any work starts.
For context, we’re an independent San Diego remodeling contractor. We’re not affiliated with ViewLux, but we’ve worked on enough of their kitchens across Mission Hills, North Park, and La Jolla to know which parts fail first and what actually matches.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux kitchens in San Diego homes span several cabinet series and hardware generations, and the biggest compatibility problem we see is homeowners buying a hinge or drawer slide that looks identical but measures a few millimeters off. Before you order anything, check the manufacturer stamp inside the drawer box or on the hinge cup. ViewLux typically uses a 35mm hinge cup, but the older Mission and Bella series we’ve pulled in older San Diego condos sometimes used a 26mm cup. That difference sounds small, but it changes how the door sits against the frame, and a mismatched hinge will make the cabinet bind or sag within weeks.
The OEM versus aftermarket decision depends on what failed. For hinges, soft-close mechanisms, and drawer glides, quality aftermarket equivalents from Blum or Salice often match or beat the original performance, and they’re generally less expensive than ViewLux branded replacements. For cabinet doors and drawer fronts, there’s no real substitute: the finish and edge profile are matched to your existing boxes, so OEM or a custom milled match is the only way to avoid a visible color shift between the new door and its neighbors. San Diego’s coastal air tends to lift vinyl edge banding and swell MDF cores, so we always check whether the part failed from wear or from moisture before recommending a replacement.

Signs Your ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- A cabinet door won’t stay closed, or it closes with a slam. The soft-close mechanism inside the hinge has lost its hydraulic fluid. Once one hinge loses its resistance, the other hinge on the same door is carrying extra weight and will fail soon after. Replacing both at once is cheaper in the long run.
- A drawer drags or catches when you pull it. On ViewLux kitchens we see here, this usually means a roller or ball bearing inside the glide is worn flat, or the drawer box itself has pulled loose from the slide because the screws stripped. Continuing to force it scores the metal and can crack the drawer bottom.
- The cabinet frame is separating from the wall or the face frame is splitting. This is often a hanging failure from the original install, and it’s more common in San Diego homes built on stucco because the wall cavity depth varies and installers sometimes shim incorrectly. The cabinet itself may still be fine; the repair is re-hanging it properly.
- Doors are misaligned, and the gap between doors grows wider at one corner. Hinges lose adjustment over time, but if you adjust them and the door drifts again in a month, the frame is moving. In older San Diego homes near the coast, seasonal humidity changes cause cabinets to flex, and that movement points to a structural issue, not just a hinge.
- Soft-close drawers snap shut halfway, or bounce back open. The catch is failing, but the underlying cause is often a loose mounting screw that lets the catch shift out of line. We see this constantly, and it’s a ten-minute fix if caught early, but a full glide replacement if it’s ignored.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full ViewLux kitchen remodel in San Diego runs $16,520 to $53,100. The range exists because we’ve done small condo kitchens in Mission Hills where we kept the layout and refreshed cabinets and counters for around $17,000, and we’ve also done full gut renovations in Point Loma that push past $50,000 when island work, new plumbing, and custom cabinetry are involved. Smaller scopes sit inside that range too: cabinet installation runs $4,720 to $15,340, countertop installation $2,360 to $7,670, backsplash $945 to $2,950, and a kitchen island $3,540 to $11,800.
Every quote from us is a written price with the labor and materials separated, so you can see exactly what the parts cost and what the install costs. We don’t hand you an estimate range and adjust it later. The number on your written quote is the number on the invoice unless the scope changes and we agree to that change in writing first. And every install carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something we installed fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. No service call fee, no re-inspection fee.
DIY or Call Us?
Replacing a soft-close hinge or adjusting a misaligned door is within reach for a careful homeowner, and if that’s all you’re facing, we’ll gladly tell you how to check the part number so you order the right one. Where DIY goes wrong is when the frame is moving, the drawer box is splitting, or the cabinet is pulling from the wall. We’ve been called to San Diego kitchens where a homeowner spent a weekend shimming and adjusting, only for the problem to return because the underlying mounting was never sound. If the issue involves the cabinet frame, a hanging rail, or anything structural, call (619) 604-9624 before you make it worse. Trevor Nash will tell you what he thinks it is, what it costs, and whether it’s worth fixing. Tell me what you need, I’ll tell you what it costs, and we’ll go from there.
FAQs

In San Diego, ViewLux cabinet boxes and face frames typically last 15 to 25 years, but hinges and soft-close mechanisms usually need replacement between years 8 and 12. Homes closer to the coast in areas like La Jolla or Point Loma see earlier finish wear and occasional edge banding lift because of the salt air and humidity, even with good ventilation. If your boxes are solid and the hardware is failing, you’re usually looking at a parts replacement, not a new kitchen. Call (619) 604-9624 and we’ll tell you which one applies to your situation.
Sometimes. If the hinge is out of adjustment, we can reset it on the spot. If the drawer slide is loose, we can re-secure it with proper hardware. But once the hydraulic fluid leaks out of a soft-close hinge, the internal seals are done, and replacement is the only fix. If a ball bearing has flattened inside a drawer glide, no amount of lubrication will bring it back. Call (619) 604-9624 for an honest answer about whether your hardware is repairable.
A full ViewLux kitchen remodel in San Diego typically takes 4 to 10 weeks depending on scope, cabinet lead times, and whether we’re moving plumbing or electrical. A straightforward cabinet and countertop refresh with no layout changes often runs 3 to 4 weeks. A full gut renovation with island work and moving fixtures can stretch to 10 weeks. We give you a written schedule with your written price, so you know both from day one.
We stock common soft-close hinges, drawer glides, and cabinet hardware on our trucks, so we can usually complete a hardware swap in a single visit. For cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and finish-matched components, we order them matched to your existing ViewLux kitchen, and we handle the entire process so you’re not chasing down a manufacturer. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone kitchens. Call (619) 604-9624 and we’ll check what we have.
