Tremron Construction in San Diego, CA | Penhallow Remodeling San Diego
We provide independent Tremron paver and retaining wall service across San Diego, from paver patio installations to driveway re-lays and hillside wall repairs. What sets our Tremron work apart here is that we build for canyon drainage and expansive clay slopes first, then set the pavers. If your Tremron patio is sinking, drifting, or pooling water in neighborhoods like Mission Hills or Clairemont, call (619) 604-9624 and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts.
Why San Diego Residents Choose Us for Tremron Service

Tremron pavers are common across San Diego backyards, driveways, and retaining walls. We stock genuine Tremron units and matching joint sand, plus compatible edge restraints, so we can match existing layouts without waiting on a manufacturer shipment. Trevor Nash, who runs our San Diego crews, learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has spent the better part of two decades running General Contractor - San Diego remodeling and hardscape crews. That means when we quote a Tremron repair, we’ve probably already worked on a house like yours within a mile or two. We’re an independent contractor, not a Tremron authorized dealer, so our recommendation is based on what actually holds up on your slope, not what a factory program tells us to sell. And every job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the pavers fail inside the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge, in writing.
We also answer the phone with a real person, 24/7. No voicemail maze. Call (619) 604-9624 and you’ll get someone who can talk through what you’re seeing and schedule a free estimate.

Common Tremron Construction Problems We Solve in San Diego
- Paver settling and differential heave on expansive clay slopes. Clairemont and Mira Mesa have large tracts of 1960s and 70s ranch homes built on clay that swells in winter and shrinks in summer. That movement pushes Tremron pavers up and down unevenly, creating trip hazards at the joints. We fix the base, not just the pavers.
- Ponding water and efflorescence on coastal pavers. In La Jolla and other coastal zones, the marine layer hangs around all morning and slows evaporation. Water sits on Tremron surfaces longer, leaving white mineral deposits and feeding moss. We regrade the slope and add drainage so water moves off the paver field.
- Edge restraint failure on hillside retaining wall caps. Mission Hills and Bankers Hill homes often have Tremron wall caps that lose their edge restraint. Paver drift follows, then winter rain gets into the wall core and erodes it. We install buried aluminum edge restraints and rebuild the affected caps.
- Discontinued Tremron color batches. You can’t always find the same Miami Stone or Olde Towne color from ten years ago. When the batch is gone, we source locally produced concrete units with the same dimensions and finish so the repair blends without waiting months.
- Base failure under older installations. Many Tremron patios in San Diego were installed over a 4-inch base that simply isn’t enough for our slopes and winter rain. We see this constantly. The pavers crack, sink, or separate because the base failed first.
Tremron Service in San Diego: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

San Diego’s coastal canyon neighborhoods like Mission Hills and Bankers Hill sit on unstable sedimentary rock, and that one fact changes how Tremron installations should be built here. A standard 4-inch compacted aggregate base, which works fine in flatter inland cities, doesn’t hold up when winter rain runs down a canyon slope and saturates the soil beneath the pavers. On these lots we spec a mechanically compacted aggregate base twice as thick, often with additional drainage, because the alternative is a patio that looks great for two years and then starts sinking at the downhill edge. We relaid a 400-square-foot Tremron Mega-Olde Towne paver patio in a Mission Hills backyard where the original install had no edge restraint and winter runoff had washed out the sand bedding. Our crew pulled the pavers, regraded the slope, added a 6-inch crushed limestone base, and reset the pavers with a buried aluminum edge restraint. The family can now run a hose across it without paver drift. That’s the difference between building for San Diego’s geography and building for a generic installation manual.

Tremron Models & Products We Service in San Diego
We work on Tremron Miami Stone, Tremron Olde Towne Paver, Tremron Mega-Olde Towne, and Tremron Holland Stone. Those four lines cover most of the paver patios, driveways, and walkways we see across San Diego. When we repair or extend an existing layout, we stock genuine Tremron replacement pavers and matching joint sand locally so turnaround is measured in days, not weeks. When a color batch is discontinued, we source locally produced concrete units with the same dimensions and finish. Our stance is straightforward: replace individual damaged pavers when the base is sound. If the subgrade has failed or the settlement pattern repeats, a partial or full re-lay is cheaper over time than patching settled spots year after year. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at before we quote it.

AfterTremron Service Pricing in San Diego

Every Tremron job in San Diego gets a written price before we move a single paver. The number depends on square footage, base depth, slope, and whether we’re repairing or replacing. Here are the market ranges for the work we do most often:
| Service | Typical San Diego Price Range |
|---|---|
| Paver Patio Installation | $4,130 – $12,980 |
| Paver Driveway Installation | $8,260 – $21,240 |
| Concrete Driveway Installation | $5,310 – $14,160 |
What drives cost up: steep slopes needing thicker bases, extensive drainage work, removing and hauling old concrete, and large square footage. What drives it down: flat lots with sound existing base material and straightforward patterns. Your free estimate includes a written line-item quote, so you’ll see exactly what you’re paying for. Call (619) 604-9624 and we’ll come out, look at the site, and give you a number you can hold us to.

FAQs – Tremron Construction in San Diego
Why do my Tremron pavers sink near my San Diego canyon-edge retaining wall? Canyon-edge lots in Mission Hills and Bankers Hill often have fill soil behind the retaining wall that was never compacted to structural standards. Winter rain saturates that fill, it settles, and the pavers above drop with it. The fix is pulling the affected pavers, compacting the subgrade properly, adding a thicker aggregate base, and reinstalling with an edge restraint. Call (619) 604-9624 and we’ll assess whether it’s a spot repair or a full re-lay.
Can you match my discontinued Tremron color for a small repair in North Park? Yes, usually. When the original Tremron color batch is no longer produced, we source locally manufactured concrete units with the same dimensions and finish. The match won’t be perfect against pavers that have weathered for fifteen years, but it will be close enough that the repair disappears within a season. We’ll bring samples before we quote.
Do I need a permit to replace a Tremron paver driveway in Clairemont? In most cases, replacing pavers over an existing driveway footprint does not require a permit in San Diego. If you’re expanding the driveway, changing the grade, or altering drainage patterns, a permit may be required. We’ll tell you during the estimate whether your specific Clairemont property needs one, and we pull the permits if it does.
How do you keep weeds from growing between Tremron pavers in Mira Mesa? Weeds get established when the sand joints wash out and organic material fills the gaps. The fix starts with polymeric sand, which hardens when it gets wet and resists weed growth. Then we address the drainage problem that washed out the sand in the first place, otherwise the weeds come back. On Mira Mesa clay slopes, that usually means regrading and adding drainage before we re-sand the joints.
Can you install Tremron pavers over my existing cracked concrete patio as part of a San Diego Bathroom Remodeling or outdoor project in La Jolla? Yes, if the concrete slab is structurally sound with no major settling. We bond the pavers over the slab with a setting bed, which saves on demolition and hauling. If the slab is cracked and moving from La Jolla’s coastal moisture cycles, we’ll recommend removing it and starting with a proper base. We’ll assess the slab during the estimate and show you the numbers both ways. Call (619) 604-9624 for a free quote.
