Tremron Windows & Doors: The San Diego Owner’s Guide

We stock, match, and install Tremron-compatible window and door parts across San Diego, with typical installed replacements running $5,310 – $17,700 depending on the unit, glass package, and frame work involved. Most Tremron owners find us the same way: a window that won’t stay open, a door that’s dragging on the threshold, or a seal that has finally fogged between the panes after years of coastal moisture. The fix usually comes down to the right part, the right measurements, and a technician who knows the difference between a Tremron series hinge and a generic big-box substitute.

We’re an independent San Diego remodeling and repair company, not affiliated with Tremron directly. That said, we’ve spent enough time on Tremron installations around this city to know which parts hold up, which ones fail first, and what a fair price looks like in this market. Trevor Nash, who runs Penhallow Remodeling here in San Diego, learned early that honest measurements beat shortcuts, and that goes double for window and door hardware where an eighth of an inch changes everything.

Which Tremron Models This Applies To

Tremron windows and doors show up across a lot of San Diego homes built from the mid-1990s through the 2010s. The most common lines we work on are the aluminum-frame horizontal sliders, single-hung vinyl units, and the swing-panel patio door systems. If you’re not sure what you have, look for the small metal or foil label on the frame edge or inside the track, usually with a series code and a manufacture date. That label is the single most useful thing you can photograph before calling us.

Here’s the gotcha most San Diego homeowners hit: Tremron’s hardware doesn’t always cross-pollinate between series. A roller assembly from a 2002 slider will not necessarily fit a 2009 unit that looks nearly identical from the outside. This is where OEM parts versus quality aftermarket equivalents become a real decision. For hinges, locking points, and threshold caps, we prefer OEM Tremron parts when they’re still available because the tolerances match what the frame was built for. For rollers and weatherstripping, which wear predictably, we’ll often recommend a higher-grade aftermarket part that outlasts the original in San Diego’s salt air and sun exposure. We’ll walk you through that decision before any money leaves your pocket.

Signs Your Tremron Windows & Doors Is Failing

  • The window suddenly drops or binds when you slide it. This is almost always a roller or shoe failure. In San Diego’s dry, dusty conditions, the nylon wheel inside the roller assembly grinds down and the metal bracket starts eating into the aluminum track.
  • Condensation or fog between the panes. The insulated glass unit seal has failed. Once that seal lets go, moisture gets in and the argon or krypton gas fill escapes. No cleaning fixes it; the glass unit itself needs replacement.
  • The door drags on the threshold or won’t latch cleanly. This can be a worn threshold cap, a sagging hinge, or a door panel that’s shifted out of square. Each has a different fix, and the wrong one just moves the problem around.
  • Locking points that grind or won’t fully seat. On multi-point door locks, one failed gearbox or misaligned striker means the whole mechanism works harder and wears faster. If you have to shoulder the door to get it to lock, the lock is already losing.
  • Visible cracking or tearing at the corners of weatherstripping. San Diego sun bakes flexible seals until they shrink and split. When you can feel a draft or see daylight at the frame edge, the seal has given up and the window or door is no longer doing its weather job.

These symptoms rarely fix themselves. When a part starts wearing, everything around it compensates, and that’s when trim gets damaged, frames get scratched, and the full repair bill climbs.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Tremron window and door part replacements in San Diego, here’s what we quote, in writing, before anyone picks up a tool:

  • Roller or hinge replacement: $295 – $825 per opening, including parts, alignment, and track cleanup.
  • Weatherstripping and threshold cap replacement: $470 – $2,125, depending on door size and how much of the seal system has failed.
  • Insulated glass unit replacement: $710 – $2,950 per sash, driven by glass size, low-E coating requirements, and whether the frame needs re-glazing.
  • Full window replacement (frame and all): $5,310 – $17,700 for Tremron-compatible units in standard sizes across San Diego.
  • Complete door system replacement (patio door or entry door): $4,130 – $11,800 installed.

What drives the spread? Glass package is the big one. A basic clear dual-pane costs a lot less than a low-E tempered unit sized for a south-facing San Diego wall. Frame condition matters too. If the aluminum is still square and the track is intact, we can often swap parts without pulling the whole unit out. If the frame is pitted, bowed, or previously hacked by a handyman special, the labor climbs because we’re rebuilding what should have never been touched. Every job from Penhallow Remodeling includes the written price before we start and our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge, no re-inspection fee, no runaround.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things you can safely check yourself. Clean the track and look for visible debris where the roller rides. Test whether the door is visibly sagging by measuring the gap at the top and bottom of the latch side. Take photos of the label and any hardware you’ll be describing. That’s genuinely useful and costs you nothing.

Where DIY goes wrong is when a homeowner starts pulling the screws out of a tensioned hinge, pries out a threshold cap that’s bedded in sealant, or tries to swap an insulated glass unit without the right glazing tape, shims, and setting blocks. We’ve repaired jobs where a window fell out of its frame because the person before us didn’t know what was holding it in. Window glass is heavy; window mechanisms are spring-loaded; and a 40-pound patio door panel over a bare foot is not a lesson anyone needs. If the part has tension on it or weight on it, call (619) 604-9624. Tell us what you need, we’ll tell you what it costs, and we’ll go from there.
