ActiveYards Roofing: The San Diego Owner’s Guide
If you have an ActiveYards roof system and a part has failed, we can source the replacement and install it, typically for $470 – $2,125 depending on the component and how much surrounding material needs to come apart. Most ActiveYards roofing repairs in San Diego are done in a single visit once the correct part is in hand. You usually find out a part failed the hard way: a damp spot on the ceiling after December rain, a shingle or panel that lifted during a Santa Ana wind event, or rust staining near a fastener line that was fine last spring.
We’re an independent San Diego contractor, not an ActiveYards dealer or affiliate. That means we can be straight with you about which parts are worth buying OEM and which ones a quality aftermarket equivalent handles just fine. The roof over your head is not the place to guess, so we measure, match, and write the price down before any work starts.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

ActiveYards has produced several roofing lines over the years, and the parts are not always interchangeable across them. If you have the original paperwork, look for the model name on the warranty card or the installation invoice. If not, we can identify the system from the panel profile, fastener type, and any stamped markings on the underside of a lifted panel or the eave trim.
The most common ActiveYards roofing components we replace in San Diego are ridge caps, eave drip edges, gable trim, end caps, and the concealed fasteners that hold the panels down. The older ActiveYards lines used a narrower panel rib profile than some of the newer series, which means a generic big-box ridge cap will not seat correctly and will leak within the first season. That’s the compatibility gotcha we see most often: a homeowner buys a “universal” ridge cap, installs it over an ActiveYards panel, and the profile gap lets wind-driven rain blow straight under the cap. If the part number has faded off your paperwork, take three clear photos of the failing area and text them to us before we schedule. We’ll match it from the profile geometry.
OEM ActiveYards parts are still available for most lines through regional distributors. Some discontinued colors are harder to source. When OEM is the only option that matches, we tell you that up front and give you a real lead time. For common failure points like fasteners and sealant, a corrosion-rated aftermarket equivalent usually performs as well or better in coastal San Diego air, and costs less.

Signs Your ActiveYards Roofing Is Failing
- Water staining on the ceiling or wall, usually after wind-driven rain. This is rarely a single missing shingle. On ActiveYards systems it’s typically a failed or displaced ridge cap, or a seam where the panel lap has opened just enough to let water wick upward.
- Rust staining around fasteners or along the eave line. San Diego’s marine layer means salt-laden moisture sits on metal surfaces longer than you’d think. Once the protective coating is compromised, rust spreads through the fastener head and loosens the panel’s grip.
- A panel or trim piece that rattles or lifts in wind. Loose fasteners, worn rubber washers, or a clip that worked free. It’ll get louder every Santa Ana season until the panel peels off entirely and takes whatever it lands on with it.
- Daylight visible from the attic through the roof deck. If you can see sky through a seam, the overlap has shifted or the panel has warped. Water follows the same path in the next rain.
- Granule-heavy runoff from an asphalt shingle section. Some ActiveYards systems mix metal panels with traditional shingle sections. Heavy granule loss means the shingle’s structural layer is exposed to San Diego’s UV, and the clock is running faster than it should.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In San Diego, ActiveYards roofing repairs on this scope typically run $470 – $2,125. A simple fastener replacement or small trim repair lands at the low end. A full ridge cap replacement on a larger roof, or replacing multiple panels that split after years of thermal cycling, pushes toward the top.
What drives the number:
- The specific part and whether OEM or aftermarket makes sense
- Roof pitch and access; single-story walkable roofs cost less to work on than steep or two-story sections
- Whether we need to lift adjacent panels to seat the new part correctly
- Any rotted underlayment or decking discovered once the failed part comes off
You get a written price before we start, so the number on the estimate is the number on the invoice. No change orders unless you approve them first. Every repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fix fails inside a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s in writing, every time.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a safe middle ground here. You can absolutely document the failure: take photos from the ground or a ladder set on level ground, note when you first saw the leak or heard the rattle, and clear debris from gutters so we can see what’s happening at the eave. What you shouldn’t do is walk a pitched roof, especially a metal one. Metal panels are slick right after morning dew, and a fall from a two-story eave in San Diego converts a $700 repair into a hospital bill nobody planned for.
Fastener and underlayment work is also harder than it looks from below. Driving a replacement fastener in the wrong spot or stripping the rubber washer turns a small fix into a panel replacement. If you’re comfortable documenting the problem, send us photos and we’ll give you a straight read on what it’ll cost before anyone climbs a ladder. Call (619) 604-9624 and we’ll sort it out from there.
FAQs

Most ActiveYards metal roofing systems last 25 – 40 years in San Diego’s climate before the panels themselves need replacement, but the accessories wear faster. Fastener washers typically need attention every 10 – 15 years, and sealant at seams and penetrations often fails sooner in direct coastal exposure. The roof isn’t shot when those go; the parts just need replacing. Call (619) 604-9624 for a repair estimate.
Sometimes. A lifted trim piece can often be re-secured, and sealant failure can be scraped and re-applied. But a cracked ridge cap, corroded fastener, or split panel needs new material. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at and what each option costs before you decide. Estimates are free.
Most single-part replacements take one visit, typically a few hours on site. If we need to order a discontinued OEM part, that adds lead time, and we’ll give you an honest window when we quote. You’ll know the schedule before we start.
We keep common fasteners, sealant, and standard trim profiles stocked, and we source ActiveYards-specific panels and caps through regional distributors in San Diego. We also stock parts compatible with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products when a remodel overlaps with a roof repair. Tell us what you need, we’ll tell you what it costs, and we’ll go from there.
