Jerith Windows & Doors: The San Diego Owner’s Guide
If you own a Jerith window or door in San Diego and a latch has snapped, a roller has seized, or a panel won’t track straight, we can match the part and install it. Most Jerith-compatible window and door repairs in San Diego land between $470 and $2,125 for the work, depending on whether we’re replacing a single roller assembly or rebuilding a sliding door track. You’ll usually find the failure the way our customers do: the door starts dragging at the same spot every morning, or a latch stops catching cleanly, or the window suddenly needs two hands to open. We’re Penhallow Remodeling San Diego, an independent service provider, not a Jerith dealer, and we carry the common Jerith-compatible hardware on our trucks so the first visit is often the only visit.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To
Jerith built sliding patio doors and windows in a range of frame styles over the years, and the biggest compatibility gotcha we see is roller diameter. Older Jerith sliders often used a 1-1/4 inch convex steel roller, while later models moved to a 1-1/2 inch flat nylon wheel, and the two are not interchangeable. If someone installs the wrong diameter, the door will feel like it’s climbing a curb every time you open it, and the track wears unevenly within months. The surest way to identify your part is to pull the door and check the edge of the panel for a manufacturer’s label, but if that label wore off years ago, we match by measuring the roller housing, the wheel profile, and the track channel width. For San Diego homes within a few miles of the coast, we recommend the stainless or zinc-plated aftermarket equivalents over bare steel OEM rollers, since salt air turns an unprotected steel wheel into a square within about three years. The aftermarket parts we source meet or exceed the original spec at a better price, which means you’re not paying a premium for a logo stamped on a bracket.

Signs Your Jerith Windows & Doors Is Failing
- The door slides fine for three feet, then drags hard. This is the classic bent or flattened roller symptom. One wheel stops spinning, the rest keep moving, and the panel rides on the axle until it gouges a flat spot.
- The latch catches only when you lift the door slightly. Over time, the rollers drop in their housings and the entire panel sits a quarter-inch low. You’re compensating for worn hardware, which is easier than fixing it but wears out the keeper plate faster.
- The handle turns but the mechanism doesn’t retract. Jerith uses an internal cam on many of its latching handles, and that cam is usually the first internal part to round off. The handle feels loose and the door won’t lock even though nothing looks broken from the outside.
- You hear gravel when the window opens. That’s a disintegrated roller bearing, common on coastal San Diego windows because salt moisture works into the bearing race and the balls chew themselves to grit.
- The frame is square but the panel has a visible gap at the top or bottom corner. A failing hinge or a shifted roller block will cock the panel in the frame. It looks like an installation problem, but it’s almost always a worn pivot or carrier inside the track.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In San Diego, a typical Jerith sliding door roller and track service runs $470 to $1,180, and full hardware replacement including latch, handle, and both rollers lands in the $1,180 to $2,125 range. The number moves on three things: whether we’re pulling the door panel to access the rollers (which takes a second set of hands for glass panels), how far the track has worn, and whether the frame needs any shimming to sit square again. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, because the number we hand you is the number on the invoice. That policy is part of The Kingswell Way, the standard our company has operated under since 2004. Every parts replacement also carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails inside a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s in writing on every job.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely diagnose a sticking Jerith door yourself: run a utility knife along the bottom track to check for debris, vacuum the channel, and wipe the track with a dry cloth. What you shouldn’t attempt on your own is pulling a full glass slider panel, because a 90-pound panel can shift fast once it clears the frame and a dropped panel means broken glass and a trip to the emergency room. The rollers on Jerith doors sit under spring tension inside the frame, so our technicians use a panel cradle and a second person on every glass door we pull. If the track is worn to a groove, that’s a replacement job, not a cleaning job. Trevor Nash, our owner, grew up in Los Angeles and learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, and the first thing he got drilled into him was that glass doors and shortcuts don’t mix. Call (619) 604-9624 and tell us what the door is doing. We’ll tell you what it likely costs, and we’ll go from there.
FAQs

Inland, a quality roller set can run 12 to 15 years, but within five miles of the coast, expect 7 to 10 years before salt air starts taking a toll. Doors we service in Ocean Beach and Point Loma fail faster than the same models in La Mesa or El Cajon, purely because of marine moisture. If your door is nearing the decade mark and sticking, replacing the hardware now is cheaper than replacing a scored track later. Call (619) 604-9624 for an exact quote, and our estimates are always free.
Sometimes. A roller with a clogged bearing can occasionally be cleaned and re-lubricated, but once the wheel has a flat spot or the bearing race is pitted, there’s no honest repair, only replacement. We’ll show you the worn part before we replace it so you can see exactly what failed. Call (619) 604-9624 to schedule a free estimate and we’ll match the right part to your door.
Most roller and latch replacements take 60 to 90 minutes from arrival to cleanup. If the track needs replacement too, plan for a half-day visit. You’ll get a defined arrival window when you book, and a live person answers our phone 24/7 if you need to adjust the schedule. Call (619) 604-9624 and we’ll give you a written number before the work begins.
We stock the common Jerith-compatible rollers, latches, and handle sets in 1-1/4 inch and 1-1/2 inch profiles, plus the stainless and zinc-plated aftermarket equivalents. For less common Jerith series or unusual panel widths, we order the part and return within a few days. If your part is on the truck, the first visit finishes the job. Call (619) 604-9624 with your model number or a photo and we’ll tell you if it’s a stock item.
